“Ronald Reagan said, ‘Government is not the solution to our problems. Government IS the problem.’ And you didn’t see him making the government any bigger. Or our debt for that matter. The man was a saint. The only thing you need Government for is police and roads. That’s it. And wars. And traffic laws, I guess. I mean, for the roads. And you have to make sure planes don’t crash. And you can’t sell rotten meat to school children. There’s some really, really terrible people out there. But that’s all. So just laws, transportation, defense, schools and health. But that’s it. And zoning. Our home owners association is suing this guy at the end of our block. He built a deck that’s WAY too big for his house. It’s looks ridiculous. You can’t see it from the street, but it’s the principle of the thing, that’s all we’re saying. Any government beyond that is socialism. And we all know socialism is a living hell. Don’t take my word for it. Just ask Sweden. Much like you, I truly hate government. Which is why it is my personal dream to one day be elected to public office.”

“Folks, let’s be honest. Helping people just isn’t right. In fact it’s the worst thing you can do for them. Helping people goes against everything that freedom and capitalism stand for. People like my great, great grandfather. He worked his whole life to become wealthy. He would sell over-ripe fruit back to poor, hungry farmers and turn a tidy profit. That man was a free-market genius. Back then you could make a dollar that way. But not now. No. Because you have to give half your money to who? The poor people. My grandmother used to have a word for them. She had a term. She’d call them the do nothings. That’s right. She’d say, you know, put them in prison for a week, that’ll teach those beggars to act straight. Poor people are just the worst. I mean, cut it out already. You see them with their new cell phones and their new tennis shoes and their fancy clothes. If you’re going to be poor, you might as well act like it. OK? For goodness sake.”
